THE PIG: 500 Miles of Food, Friends and Local Legends
THE PIG hotel group is best known for delicious, home-grown food and stylish interiors throughout its eight hotels across the UK.
After the success of their first book, Tales & Recipes from the Kitchen Garden & Beyond; their new book dives further into the home-grown, local aspect that THE PIG is renowned for. The pages celebrate their talented army of artisans, growers, farmers, foragers, and fishermen who all play a part in making each PIG hotel a truly unique experience for guests.
The book was produced in collaboration with Gill Morgan, Sara Redhead and Sarah Glyde from the London-based content agency Uncommonly.
The eight-chapter book pays homage to each hotel and journeys across 500 miles from Cornwall to Kent, along the southern English coast. It showcases stunning photography, top tips, insights and interviews and of course mouth-watering regional recipes.
At the heart of THE PIG Hotel Group, is their commitment to reducing their carbon footprint, caring for and protecting the environment and supporting local communities. The PIG team were keen to portray their passion for the environment through their new book 500 Miles of Food, Friends and Local Legends, so keeping the book’s production ‘local’ was key. Based less than 40 miles from one of THE PIG hotels, they chose to work with Pureprint thanks to our green credentials, which align with their own environmental values.
Our team suggested using a paper produced in the UK, and Olin Regular Cream 130gsm made at Aberdeen’s Stoneywood Mill using water from the River Don was chosen. Pureprint then Carbon Balanced the paper with the World Land Trust, an international forest conservation charity.
CarbonNeutral® printing, Carbon Balanced paper and local production in the UK ensures that that the book’s provenance reflects THE PIG’s commitment to reducing their footprint, caring for and protecting the environment and supporting local communities.
